The Hospice Retreat
Brief :
My project aims to address research from my dissertation study, exploring the impact of how design can better impact cancer patients towards the end of life care, focusing in more detail on the observation of losing my mother to cancer. I aim to create a hospice, creating a welcoming and inviting space which doesn’t intimidate people but enhances their well-being, for both patients and families allowing them to have an impeccable experience.
The design aims to demonstrate how simple, well thought out discrete spaces can create a better environment which facilities well to patients and can have a positive impact on their well-being. This building was chosen for its central location to the city centre, transport links, high footfall but mainly because of its existing low thresholds, wide doors and disabled access.
